3DXTech LLC to launch 3D Printing Filaments based on Arkema’s Kynar® PVDF and Semicrystalline Kepstan® PEKK at AMUG
“Arkema’s Kepstan® PEKK (polyetherketoneketone) and Kynar® PVDF are two of the most advanced polymers used in extreme environments, such as aerospace and chemical processing environments. It is well known in the additive manufacturing industry that a lack of material options is a major factor limiting next generation applications,” says Adrien Lapeyre, Arkema’s Global Market Manager for 3D Printing powders.
“We are proud to partner with Arkema,” said Matt Howlett, President of 3DXTech LLC. “The Arkema and 3DXTech R&D teams worked well together to solve major challenges, particularly with the semi-crystalline polymers that are typically not ideally suited for extrusion printing.”
The new Kynar® PVDF and Kepstan® PEKK based filaments are now available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameters from 3DXTech in Byron Center, MI and are marketed under the Firewire® trademark.
Kynar® PVDF has been trusted for decades in the most demanding industrial applications, requiring outstanding resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals. PVDF exhibits high thermal stability up to 150°C and extreme durability in direct sunlight exposure.
Kepstan® PEKK is an extreme performance thermoplastic with a highly stable chemical backbone. Its semicrystalline structure offers an outstanding combination of mechanical and thermal strength together with tremendous chemical and fire resistance. The Kepstan® PEKK filaments offer both ease of printability and the highest performance of any thermoplastic material currently available.
Kepstan® and Kynar® are registered trademarks of Arkema. Firewire® is a registered trademark of 3DXTech LLC.
