Arkema is active in primary (farm storage), secondary (manufacturing facilities), and tertiary construction (shopping centers, services, offices, government buildings), as well as in the residential building industry (housing).

Builders lay pipe and casing systems to carry and supply drinking water, rainwater, industrial and other fluids and energy, such as gas and electricity.The construction market has embraced our thermoplastics because of their specific properties, namely corrosion resistance, lightness, and ease of use. In addition, our plastics production capacity enables us to respond quickly and efficiently to trends in this constantly changing segment.

• Products formulated using our Norsocryl® acrylic monomers can be found in various finished product applications for the construction industry. Examples include acrylic-based impact modifiers, caulks and adhesives, architectural coatings, and acrylic sheet.
  
• Arkema Emulsion Systems produces and markets a range of emulsion polymers for use in concrete admixtures, Exterior Insulating Finish Systems (EIFS), grouts, mortars, tape joint compounds, and flexible membrane coatings. With a broad range of polymer chemistries to choose from, including vinyl-acrylic, 100% acrylic and styrene-acrylic polymers, Arkema Emulsion Systems offers products meeting the specific end-use needs for a wide range of construction applications.
  
• The Lacovyl® PVC line is used for all types of pipes, including high-temperature and integrated heating applications, and DMSO is used as a solvent in paint strippers.
  
• Rilsan® fine powder coating.
  
• Our Sunprene® elastomers are used in ceiling joints and for wood, PVC, and aluminum millwork and carpentry. Our Nakan® and Lacovyl® PVC compounds are used in window profiles, siding, shutters, baseboards, fencing, and cable and wiring insulation.
  
• Coatings made with Kynar 500® polyvinylidene fluoride resins prevent fading of slate blue metal roofs for up to 30 years, thanks to their excellent UV resistance.
  
• Our acrylic resins provide superior clarity, UV resistance, and impact strength for lighting in residential and commercial buildings. Floor coverings are made with our Lotryl® resins. And our Altuglas® sheets provide a unique combination of exceptional clarity and resistance to UV degradation and discoloration for window glazing and outdoor signs.
  
• For exteriors, the vinyl siding and window profiles on many homes and offices are made using our plastic additives, which protect PVC from the effects of bad weather.
• Indoors, Forane® refrigerants are used in air conditioning systems and keep your refrigerator running smoothly. And to keep out the heat or cold, manufacturers use our blowing agents to produce foam insulation.
  
• Our impact modifiers, process aids, co-stabilizers, heat stabilizers, and glass coatings are used industry-wide, in everything from compounding to fencing, decking, pipes, vinyl siding, and window glass treatment. The Certincoat® range of coatings has been specifically developed for the treatment of low-emissivity glass used to reflect infrared light and hence provide better thermal insulation in buildings.
  
• Our Luperox® crosslinking agents are used in window profiles, cable and wiring insulation, EVA sheets for flooring, roofing and cealings.

Sartomer manufactures and markets a complete line of monomers and oligomers used for the construction market.

These low-VOC products are widely used in ultraviolet (UV) light (Sarbox™ Oligomers), electron beam (EB), and peroxide curing of high-performance coatings, and adhesives and sealants systems.
